A health-conscious professional in their late twenties has no shortage of health data — a watch, a scale, three apps that do not talk to each other — and no time at all to reconcile it. The numbers arrive raw, and none of them says what to do next.
So the study started from the other end. Not more tracking, but one screen that answers how am I doing and what is the single thing worth changing, in the time it takes to wait for a lift.
- Built three provisional personas from the brief and secondary research, then wrote Jobs-to-be-Done for each, so the design answered motivations rather than demographics.
- Named the four problems the product actually had to solve: no time, chronic stress, tracking split across tools, and data arriving without guidance.
- Led the dashboard with biological age instead of a step count — one number that means something, the real age beneath it, and a streak alongside.
- Cut the daily read to four metrics — sleep, stress, steps, diet — each with a plain-language status, a target, and a way through to detail.
- Made the AI layer prescriptive rather than descriptive: every recommendation is one specific action with a reminder attached to it.
- Gave a first-time user three ways in — manual entry, an AI chat, or a wearable — so an empty dashboard is never the first thing they meet.
- Placed the paid plans where someone is already looking at what they want to improve, rather than behind a wall at launch.
- Set the type in Manrope and built the component set behind it, off the back of an information architecture and user flows drawn first.
A complete proposal: personas, jobs-to-be-done, information architecture, user flows, wireframes and high-fidelity screens.
First-time and repeat journeys both designed, including the empty, no-streak and active-streak states most concepts skip.
